What supports weight loss better – physical activity or nutrition? This debate has been going on for as long as I can remember and the research shows that nutrition plays the biggest role. In fact, if you were to put it into a ratio of nutrition vs. physical activity you would wind up with a number of about 80:20. However, exercise is a critical component of overall cardiovascular health and weight loss and/or maintenance. Exercising moderately for the minimum of 150 minutes weekly will burn extra calories and extend your life span.
In celebration of Nutrition Month, try paying more attention to your nutrition. Research shows that focusing on putting more good food in your mouth is more successful than banning bad foods for sustainable weight loss. So your challenge for this month is to try to fill half your plate with veggies and/or fruits for at least one meal per day.
Ready. Start. Go!
